AI: The Newest Weapon of Mass Destruction?
AI, AI, and AI — I bet that when you open the Instagram app, read the news, or talk to your coworker, they will bring up ChatGPT within 5 minutes of the conversation. AI is changing the world and has the potential to both takeaway jobs and create new ones. The fuss around it is understandable.
Recently, big MNCs like Amazon, and Vodafone-Idea have planned to lay off a few thousand people. It’s not just them; layoffs have started, and people are losing their jobs. And It’s not only blue-collar jobs that are at risk but the entire white-collar too!
Why am I saying this? Earlier, it seemed like only jobs requiring less skill would be in trouble, but now, with models like GPT, AI can make itself more efficient in its work.
AI can think critically much faster than it can perform physical tasks. People in the software industry are in danger because the time required to write code has been reduced to a few minutes. Just go to ChatGPT, write a script or code, and voila, it’s done. You just have to check it. It’s as simple as that.
AI was publicly announced recently on November 22, and since then, it has been growing exponentially. The best part is, as it is built openly, it’s easy for someone to build on top of it.
Know more about them here.
Take AutoGPT, for example. It’s an AI model built on top of ChatGPT, and it’s remarkable. Sources like GitHub have multiple ideas and innovations made on top of it.
The growth of AI is mind-boggling and exciting, but it also makes me feel tense. It takes little to no time for AI to learn and understand new things, and it can even self-learn and understand commands. It has already replaced many tools, and the future is scary.
For jobs, you can literally ask anything. Not only that, you can add prompts like, “You are the CEO of a multinational company with 10 years of experience in marketing. You have helped brands like Spotify, Apple, and Cred grow. Write an email to users on your new product to so and so.” The responses from the model will amaze you.
For startups, you can ask for ideas. If you have one, you can ask for a framework, and not only that, you can even ask it to code your platform!
A random guy just added his name and age and asked chatGPT to say how he can earn money with it and here is what chat GPT replied.
If you think I’m scaring you by saying all this, here is Sam Altman, the founder of ChatGPT from OpenAI, talking about this technology publicly in his video on “Fear of AI.”
Recently, I came across a video where AI created an ad. It handled everything from scripting to creating the ad. Granted, it wasn’t perfect, but as I mentioned earlier, it can self-learn and potentially create much better content in the future!
Imagine if AI is able to do creative tasks as well. What will be left for us? We have already lost AI to knowledge, information, and technology, and now it might encroach upon creativity too!
What do I think about the future? To be honest, I’m a bit pessimistic about what lies ahead and how AI will perform most tasks. To counter this, we need to build on top of it and stay ahead of the curve. The future was always unpredictable but now with AI, it’s also uncertain.
If you enjoy reading about new topics and finance, here’s something you’ll like. It’s about AI breaking capitalism. AI potentially brings a universal basic income.
That’s all from my side. See you in the next one! :)
